Crawled - currently not indexed

"Crawled - currently not indexed" is a status in Google Search Console's Page indexing report. It means Googlebot fetched your page, read it, and then decided not to add it to the index for now. Google's definition adds that the page "may or may not be indexed in the future; no need to resubmit this URL for crawling".

Why it happens

Google indexes a page when it judges the page worth serving to searchers, and on young or low-authority sites it routinely crawls pages and then parks them at this gate while it decides. Its sibling status, "Discovered - currently not indexed", is the stage before: Google knows the URL but has not crawled it yet. Neither is an error. Google's guidance says the goal is that the canonical version of every important page gets in, and full coverage is not required.

What helps

• Link to the page from your strongest pages. A page with those links looks worth indexing, an orphan page looks skippable, and an internal link costs nothing to add.

• Give the page more substance. Thin or near-duplicate pages are the ones that stall here. Make the page one you would recommend on its own merits, or fold it into a stronger one.

• Give it time. On a new site, pages commonly wait days to weeks at this gate. Track the trend in Search Console instead of a single page's state, and keep your XML sitemap current so discovery is never the blocker. Repeatedly clicking "request indexing" does not change the decision.
